Month 3 with Hadley

Im 3 months old today!

 Sunday was the 3 month mark for Hadley.  She is so much fun! She loves everything and is very easy going. Its amazing that she is rarely fussy but if she is you can bet its because she is either hungry or tired. Here are a few of the major milestones we hit this month:

• Hadley was baptized over Memorial Day weekend
• No negative reaction from her first real round of vaccinations
• We survived my first overnight business trip. I have several short trips over the next few months so last week was Karl's first real chance to have the girls completely to himself. He had to manage them for two nights and one morning during the week.
• We took our first trip to the neighborhood swimming pool and Hadley got to stick her feet in the water. She didn't seem to mind too much and got a short poolside nap in. On our second visit we attempted to get her into her starfish floaty but she wasn't really excited about that yet. She also does not enjoy wearing hats.
• She is big enough to take rides in the buggy at school. She falls asleep every time.
• She can grab and hold on to toys and other small things. She especially likes to hold onto her clothes and hair while she is eating.  She is reaching for the hanging toys on her play mat and likes to put the rings in her mouth.
• She has great focus and it starting to recognize our faces and voices very well.
• Smiles and giggles a lot, especially in the mornings. She talks up a storm to the ladies at day care too.  She is clearly trying to keep up with her sister.
• She has recently lost a ton of hair. Mostly around the sides and top of her head. I find her little hairs on everything! Can't tell yet if her hair will be curly like Ally's or not but she definily has a lot less hair over all than Ally did.

Hadley is still a fantastic eater and sleeper. Here is our current daily schedule:

• 6:30 I wake her up and she is all smiles. Change diaper and get clean clothes.
• Nurse until 7 when we need to get Ally up
• 7:30/7:45 Everyone is out the door on the way to school and work. We drive together when we can otherwise I usually take the girls in.
• Hadley takes 3, 4 oz bottles at school. Depending on how she naps its about every 3 hours.
• Some days she will take 1 long nap but right now she takes a couple of 45 minute to 1 hour snoozes during the day. Miss Lori loves to snuggle with her so she gets rocked with her paci or falls asleep eating. Every once in a while she gets so busy that she passes out playing on the floor.
• Pick up from school between 4:30 and 5:30 depending on who picks up
• Nurse before big people eat dinner
• Playtime and take Ella for a walk
• Bath time and feeding time again before putting into bed between 9:45 and 10:15

Hadley's next doctors visit will be mid-August when she will get another round of shots and we will begin the rice cereal experiment. Here are a few photos from this month.

2 Month Check-up (11.5 Weeks)

Yesterday the whole family went along for Hadley's 2 month check up. We scheduled it for first thing in the morning so we were the first ones there to start the day.  Ally has not met the new pediatrician so it was good for her to see the office as well.  Hadley checked out great just like we knew she would. She weighs 13 lbs 2 oz and is 24.5 inches long.  This puts her in the 90th percentile for length and the 50th for weight, much bigger than Ally was at this stage.  She got one shot in each leg and also an oral medicine and really only cried for just a second.  She is a champion.
We really like our new pediatrician. He has kids almost exactly the same age as Ally and Hadley (both boys), loves sports, grew up in the area and is close to us in age. Its a very relaxed atmosphere and he asks and answers questions in a very conversational way. Talking with him at these visits makes us feel like we really are good parents and are doing everything right for our kids. Obviously it helps that we aren't first timers anymore but its still nice to find someone we can trust on the first try. He gave Ally a popsicle at 8:15am just for being a good sister so she already thinks he is awesome too.  Next visit is in 2 months.

Fancy Ally

Ally loves to be fancy! She is about as girly as they come.  She loves to wear dresses, skirts, jewelry, high heels, purses and carry as many bags as humanly possible. Every day she wants to wear a dress, even on weekends when we are just playing at home. I took this on Saturday when she wanted her hair done fancy too.  Luckily its so easy to make pretty because its so curly. I think she looks adorable even though I have no clue where her obsession with dresses comes from.

For Easter Grandma Julie brought her one of the Fancy Nancy series books and she absolutely loves to read it. She is just like Nancy so we call her Fancy Ally! The books are really cute so we will have to find some more.

Conversations with Hadley

Hadley's Baptism

We traveled back up to Wisconsin over Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate Hadley's baptism. It was important for us to have this done in the same church where we got married and had Ally baptised since we really don't have a church that we attend regularly.  We chose our good friends Adam Bender and Andrea Kraemer to serve as Hadley's Godparents. They have been such great friends to us that we always want them to be part of our kids lives so this is a great way to make sure that happens. Karl's parents, aunt and the Bender family all came from Indiana to celebrate the extended weekend with us.
The trip up north was long with holiday traffic and construction. Ally watched almost 4 full movies since she decided a 20 minute nap was enough. We got to town in time to meet dad for a birthday dinner on Friday amongst the swarms of lake files- like nothing Karl had ever seen. On Saturday the kids played at the park and the festivities started at the church at 5pm for the mass followed by a brief ceremony. Hadley was quite noisy because the whole thing was right during meal time. Not exactly convenient but we handled it.  Unfortunately that meant that we didn't take many pictures as she just wasn't her usual quiet and content self.  Ally had about a million questions about all the things going on during the church service and she was a little disappointed we didn't dunk her sister under the water. Following the ceremony, everyone came over to the house for dinner and cake. The cousins all played outside and Ally loved every minute of it. Sunday we had time for more playing with the kids and some shopping at the outlet mall. My mom then kickd us out to spend time with just the girls so we could have a nice dinner without kids. Monday was time for a brief visit with dad before driving back.
Special thank you to Hadley's Godparents, especially the Benders for making the long trip with 3 kids under 3. To my family for hosting the event and getting the food all ready and to Karl's family for joining us for the holiday.It has sort of become a tradition to spend the Memorial Day Weekend together with our families since it is our anniversary. We held festivities in the same church and the out of town guests stayed in the same hotel, just as they did 7 years ago.
