Saturday marked the end of a very long week at the NCAA men's golf national championship hosted at the Purdue golf course. It was a lot of long days but it was a very well done event. The weather cooperated for the most part, minus the tornado warnings on Friday which led to me hiding in the laundry room with Ella, and we were able to wrap things up as scheduled on Saturday. Karl and I both volunteered our time (not like I had a choice) so we were happy for the event to be finished. Since we had the day off, Sunday we traveled to Chicago to experience our first Cubs game. Neither of us are fans but we decided it was something we had to experience. We scored some tickets off of a professor of Karl's and they ended up being great seats... Great until we realized that there was no sun to be seen! It was warm all week and when the forecast for Wrigleyville was upper 70s and sunny we put on our shorts and thought nothing of it. We managed to park downtown, use the correct public transportation, dine at the Cubby Bear and then find out that the breeze of the lake was right in our face and the seats were covered! For someone that loves the sun as much as I do, this was a major disappointment. I figured that if I was going to be at Wrigley (when the Brewers were not the opponent), it would at least be worth my time to work on my tan. NOT SO MUCH! We also managed to select Illinois Day at Wrigley which meant having to suffer through a bunch of orange-shirted Illini fans and Ron Zook throwing the first pitch and singing take me out to the ball game. We were hoping for a big name celebrity since we had a great view of the press box from our seats but we were seriously disappointed. We were cold and annoyed, the Cubs were ahead so we decided to peace out after the 7th inning stretch. And for you Illini fans: if your coach still doesn't know the words to take me out to the ball game, you might want to reconsider Illini Day at Wrigley.
