So...What Do You Do?

You might be asking yourself, what exactly does Erin do? Well... here is what I did today. We are in the process of filming our 2008 football commercials and today was spent with our camera crew inside the stadium with three of our athletes. Our advertising agency helps us to develop the concepts for the commercials and we decide together whats going to look best and get people around here motivated to buy tickets. The filming went well but its not exactly as exciting as it sounds. Watching take after take of the same thing from a million different angles wasn't all I had hoped it would be and it was at least 95 degrees on the field. The guys were really cooperative and even excited to be in the commercials so it was more fun to watch them "act" than anything. I don't want to give away all of our secrets but I will tell you that the tag line will be something to the effect of, "Where will you be?" After we finish with football commercials we get to do men's and women's basketball which should be a little bit more exciting. In addition to television spots, we are also recording radio spots for football and volleyball. That's a lot more fun and involves more on the spot decision making for me. Its fun to play around with the different sound effects, music and voices and the finished product comes back so fast that you know its going to be the way you want it before you leave the studio. My job is to create (or help create) advertising pieces that are going to get fans excited and to make the non-fans interested enough to buy a ticket or two. Thats your glipse into the athletics marketing world so now you know one of the many pieces to the puzzle that is my job.

Here is part of our shoot with kicker Chris Summers.
